Summer in Maryland

What is your favorite thing about summer? The sunshine? Good fruit? Going out to a favorite park? Flowers? Seeing fat babies toddle in shorts? This weekend has been surprisingly pleasant and here are some pictures including some of my favorite things of summer, including Baltimore. Locally, in Baltimore, pronounced "Balmore".

I love the light on the pavement here after the rain

How do I ask, how do the neighbors get such perfectly cut grass? Is it genetically modified?
You can never be too old to chase fireflies. :) It is like chasing dreams, you never get there, but it is fun to try.

Hello Mr. Firefly!
Getting mosquito bites on the behalf of fireflies.
We went to a very polluted beach. It was disgusting. But we paid, so had to stay and it was sunny and the beach after all so had as good of a time as we could.
Going to the polluted beach!

I love the sun!
Oh, mama, I also really like the embroidered Mexican purse you sent me! Gracias, Chaparita!
It is very nationalistic of me, I know, but some things move me and make me happy like seeing the American flag on beautiful front porches and hearing the troops jam out at outdoor concerts. yay...America...Should I go hide now? :) The song they were singing was right on point too. It was "The Middle" by Jimmy eat world. "It just takes some time, little girl, you're in the middle of the ride. Everything, everything will be just fine, everything everything will be all right."

Let's go to Baltimore, shall we? Lock up the car doors as we cruise down East Baltimore. Avoid making eye contact with cocaine addicts as they snort. Did that just happen?! Ug. Poor people. Lord help them. Help us all. Speed up to get out of east Baltimore. Keep going and  oh, things start to look better!

Welcome to Fells Point, Baltimore. Home of the Sunday Brunch. Home to too many bars. Home to the biggest fans of the Orioles baseball team.

a French movie: la petite chaussure perdue. "The little lost shoe" In case you are wondering, the child got lost in the bushes. Since it is a French film it ends with the child coming face to face with a rat. It leaves you with a huge sense of empty guilt. Oi oi mon amie.

Going for a walk around Fells Point. This place has really cleaned up since I last lived here.

Can I live here?

The meatballs smelled so good! I should make some.

Most murals in Baltimore indicate a dangerous zone ahead. I wish it were not so since the murals are so pretty.
We stopped to get some cool air in a nice free trade store and saw lots of good handmade things:

Friends. or Girls day out.

The Orioles were playing. "How 'bout 'dem O's" was also playing out of the bars.

And that is it for today. Did you enjoy Baltimore? Did you enjoy the rain? Get out and enjoy the summer!
