Illuminated by Sunshine

I really like Pescara. The city is modern in comparison to others, sadly though because it was bombed like crazy in 1943, first by Nazis then by the good ol'boys of America chasing off the Nazis. Those bombings left 3,000 dead, the city flattened and few historical buildings remaining. I can't imagine how devastating that was for the people who had lived peacefully here. World War 2 bombings were only a few decades ago and Pescara has definitely grown into a beautiful, modern, family friendly beach city. As it stands today, it would be a lovely place to come, but considering it's past and how the people pulled together to survive, Pescara is a strong and determined city of survivors who rebuilt their city in a very sweet and smart way.

Today the sun was shining over the Adriatic Sea. I was feeling an itch to go for a nice long walk on the board walk and apparently Fatty was feeling the sunshine too. He was literally illuminated by the sunshine.

We hit the terrace for some sun. Fatty sunbathed like a woolly mammoth. Sometimes I still get shocked at how huge my little kitty is.

A Very Long Furry Engagement

In the afternoon Husband Dearest (I should find a Blogger nickname for him) and I went for a walk that turned into a 10 mile stroll to the beach, the new bridge, the boat houses along the sea, and a scuttle home in the beginning of a lighting sea storm.

The sky soon clouded very darkly and crashes of thunder started over our heads. We hustled back the five miles to the house as the rays of lighting danced across the sky. I arrived totally exhausted but loved the long walk on the boardwalk today.
