8 Mary Magdalene: Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

St Mary Magdalene, pray for us!

Novena Day 8: For this eight day of the Novena I want to pray for the elderly who are vulnerable. Those who live alone and feel the sting of loneliness, those in company who also feel alone, those who have pain they are afraid to acknowledge, and those with declining cognitive functions. In John 20, Jesus made Himself known to Mary by calling her by name.

May each elderly person feel that call by name with love which Jesus calls to them when they feel scared, alone and abandoned as Mary Magdalene did at the tomb.

"Learning to think rigorously, so as to act rightly and to serve humanity better." - Pope John Paul II

Day Eight: Jesus said to her, "Mary" and she cried out "Rabboni" (teacher)

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
St Mary Magdalene, intercede for us.

Lord have mercy,
Christ have mercy,
Lord have mercy,
Christ hear us,
Christ graciously hear us,.

God the Father of heaven,
Have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the World,
Have mercy on us.
God the Holy Spirit, Holy Trinity one God,
Have mercy on us.

St. Mary of Magdalene. I ask you to intercede for all of the elderly who are vulnerable. You felt alone, scared and overwhelmed in that loneliness looking for your Savior. Please intercede for all of the elderly who are alone, or in delicate health, or feel useless, or scared of what the future holds for them. May they all hear to interior call of Christ to them, calling them by name, as He calls each of his children with love to bring us closer to Him. Please intercede in a special way for all the elderly who are afraid of death and convert their sweet hearts from skepticism or wounds of the past to a life of freedom in their future with Christ. May they see themselves as beloved sons and daughters and have the courage to pray to their loving Father.

Hail Mary full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art though among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever.

All glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be a world without end. Amen.
