Italian Rhythm on a Sunny Day

Here in Italy, people stick to a rhythm everyday. It takes a little getting used to and accept. Here is how it goes:

1. Breakfast is lite: just an espresso and something sweet to eat. Italians don't eat eggs, salty foods, or heavy for breakfast.
Breakfast is served

2. Work work work: People are very dedicated and hard workers here

3. Lunch and Riposo: in small towns, not big cities, the people stop the show at 1230 and shut down to eat well, then rest after that till the afternoon.
Lunch: a few courses are served at lunch. First a pasta, risotto, or polenta dish. Then a hearty meat dish. While espresso is being made people eat a piece of fruit. Then espresso is served to help digestion and eaten with something sweet or the pastry is passed.
Riposo: from 12 to 2 it is "quiet time" in Italy.

4. Back to work. Shops reopen around 3:30 or 4 PM and close around 7.

5. Dinner and the news. The type and size of dinner depends on the family. But most people watch the 8 PM news.

Here, for me, it has been a bit frustrating during riposo when all shops are closed. It is especially difficult in the winter when sidewalks are frozen and don't unfreeze till noon but at noon the shops close! When they re-open at 3:30 the sky is getting dark and cold!

Today we went early for a walk to the post office then took advantage of the sun to walk down to Lake Garda.
I love how clear the water is and in the distance you can see the outline of the Alps.

The lake was beautiful! On our way back we picked up some goodies at the local baker then head home.
Pastries filled with sweet cream, raisins and apples

My neighbors dogs were out in the garden and so cute. They are my favorite picture of the week.
Look at these cuties, aren't they great?

I hope that the sun sticks around a few more days, everything looks nicer and happier in the sun.
