St Maximilian Kolbe. Day 6.

Do you remember when you first heard of email? Do you remember what your first home computer was like? Our family had an Apple that looked like a little spacecraft. My dad was so proud of it and it took about two hours to get started, another hour to connect to the internet and then just a phone call to our house phone to ruin all the fun. We used it out of curiosity thinking it was great to be able to communicate with people electronically.

St. Maximilian Kolbe loved technology for one reason only: to spread the faith and bring souls to Jesus through Mary. The radio was first brought to Poland in 1925 and he decided that as monks and knights of Mary, they needed to employ any means available to spread her message of love for Jesus and following in His footsteps.
A simple monk in the mountains with a divine calling.

To use the most modern tools available to spread the love of Mary pointing us to Jesus.

St. Maximilian Kolbe built a little house in the country, far from noise, as his radio tower.
The radio station SP3RN

He prayed for help from Our Lady. And sure enough, she came through for him. His radio station was secretly created and was called SP3RN for Stacja Polska 3 Radio Niepokalanow, or Polish Station 3, Radio Station of the City of Mary.

His first radio message was on her feast day of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 1938. He introduced his first message with a beloved song to Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Lourdes, Po Gorach, Dolinach Rozlega Sie Glos, a Polish Marian song. The first verse sings: "A bell rings over the mountains and valleys, the angelic greeting to people he says: Ave, ave, ave Maria. Hail, hail, hail Mary." The song is actually quite beautiful and you can hear it on YouTube here.

St Maximilian did everything he could to use technology for conversion of souls and to clearly call out evil for what it was. Today, I would like to pray for all Catholic speakers, radio hosts and internet users.

Day 6. For Catholic speakers, radio hosts and internet users

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. St Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us and intercede for us.

Lord have mercy,

Christ have mercy,

Lord have mercy,

Christ hear us,

Christ graciously hear us.

God the Father in Heaven,

Have mercy on us,

God the Son, Redeemer of the World,

Have mercy on us.

God the Holy Spirit, Holy Trinity one God,

Have mercy on us.

St Maximilian Kolbe, intercede for us. Today I would like to pray for all Catholics who use internet, also for radio hosts and speakers. St Maximilian, you used the most modern means possible to spread the message of fighting Satan through the Immaculate Conception and prayer, today I pray for your intercession. Please intercede for all Catholics who use internet to see it as a means of sanctifying their circle of influence. May they see, as you did that even if the audience is small, that through the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, she will use them as a vessel to reach souls. I pray for a consciousness in the minds of Catholic radio hosts, and speakers to see how valuable their time here is on earth, like gems hidden in the rubble, and to not waste time on unimportant trivial murmurings and getting easily discouraged by obstacles, but consecrating each day to the Sacred Heard of Jesus. I pray that they use the tools that have been made possible to them as a gift to bring others to Jesus with joy. May they cast wide nets in the deep of the sea of souls, like Jesus told his apostles to cast their nets into the deep. St Maximilian, I especially pray for the souls of all Catholics who use internet, radio and are speakers: may they make frequent use of the sacraments to stay closely united to Christ. May they never speak, write or send messages into the abyss of communication without having prayed and contemplated on the source of their message in unity with Christ. Through the sacraments, may they become ever more devoted to the true presence of Jesus within them and the guidance of their Mother, Mary Immaculate by their side as they pray for clarity for inspiration. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive those who debt against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, a world without end. Amen.

Text from his first broadcast on December 8, 1938, source, Radio Niepokalanow

From St. Maximilian Kolbe:

annual Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.

We, devoted to the Immaculate Virgin in the ranks of her Knighthood, let us look at the whole year since the last of her Feast and ask ourselves:

Have we come even closer to the Immaculate this year?
Has our love for her increased?
Have we become closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Conception?
Do we become more intimate with Jesus in the tabernacle, and even more after receiving Him in Holy Communion?
Does His love for the cross draw us and inspire us to reciprocate with sacrificial love, at our expense and suffering for Him?

If so, let us sincerely thank the Immaculate for these fountains of graces, which she obtained for us and poured out on us from the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

If, however, we do not see any greater progress in God's love, let us not be discouraged, but humble ourselves, let us sincerely apologize to the Immaculate One that we did not use her favors enough; let us ask her to apologize to the Savior, to reward His Sacred Heart and to turn our sluggishness, our ingratitude into an even greater good, so that even our falls may become really steps for us to ever higher perfection (because only good Jesus allowed them) - and with all boundless trust let us allow ourselves to be led in the most perfect way in her special care.

She will teach us how day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment, by fulfilling our ordinary duties well and by agreeing with God's Will to show love to the Divine Heart, sacrificial love, by doing His Will in spite of difficulties, sufferings and crosses. …

Last year, we wrote about the five-year-old Militia Immaculate. It consists in the fact that each member will try to recruit at least one new member to the Immaculate Militia each year within five years. So if any of us have not succeeded in this yet, let us try [...] during the octave [of her feast day] to attract someone from our friends to the service of the Immaculate. And if anyone does not have the opportunity to do so, let him pray fervently to the Immaculate One, that at least someone else would be very lucky for him.

The Immaculate One will undoubtedly welcome this effort to win a new soul in a special way for her: she so wishes to love her Jesus with our hearts ” (Scriptures II, 1150).
