Tropical Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving day started chilly in Miami at a whole 65 degrees. While New Jersey was getting hit with a blizzard I was getting ready for an early morning walk down the beach and to South Point Park.
Those Miami curls fascinate me.

We saw Robin Schultz filming his music video to "Slowly Drifting" at the south point park.

Robin Shlutz drifting away, wave after wave.

El Gordo has a friend on the beach.

Another beach bum kitty
I love the Art Deco architecture of South beach.

Summer style

We spent the afternoon swimming in the ocean. I was surprised at how warm the water was.
Happy Thanksgiving!

The waves are also much more gentle than the waves in Jersey which crash right over you. It was so cool to be able to hop out of the ocean, flip flop down the street and pick up a fresh fruit smoothie with no extra syrups. Just fruit. The place is called La Sandwicherie and makes delicious tropical smoothies and yummy sandwiches.

In the evening we contemplated dinner and decided on heading back to Fratelli la Buffala since it had impressed us so much the first night. Hey, it was vacation plus Thanksgiving so the rules for food sort of go out of the window. He had broccoli with sausage on his pizza and I had homemade pasta filled with cheeses. We ended the dinner with a special Neapolitan style pastry, pastiera.
The Pilgrims would have loved pizza

Squanto would have loved fresh-made pasta

Betsy Ross would love espresso and pastiera.

It was the best Thanksgiving ever.

No rush for cooking, no rush to get everything just right. I had my baby, the beach, some sun on my belly and a smoothie to boot.

We ended the evening by lounging in our condo watching the Thanksgiving Day parade, then went for a little stroll.
