What to Wear: 24 Degrees and a Fancy Date
Yesterday I had plans to meet with a very handsome guy on 71st Street in Upper West Side Manhattan. The plan was to go on a fancy date to the NY Philharmonic and listen to the tunes of Mozart. There was one lurking problem though: what to wear?! Opportunities to go somewhere romantic and fancy don't happen every day so something cute must be worn. Mother nature established that is should be cold, 24 degrees cold and that is too cold for a cute little dress. But I wised up and noted that I should dress deceitfully cute with layers of warmth under that little dress. This is what I wore, and had a BLAST and not in a cold way!
Ten Things to Wear on a Fancy Date on a COLD Day
(from the inside out)
1. Icebreaker (or wool) underpants. Purchased in July at 50% off!
2. Opaque tights over underpants...it smooths out the underpants seams and keeps you nice and warm
3. Soft cotton socks to cushion all of the walking in the city
4. Flat pretty black boots
5. Warm cashmere fitted turtleneck (also purchased in the summer at a huge discount $5)
6. Turtleneck wool dress
7. Hat that can go over ears if needed
8. Leather gloves lined with wool (they are worth it)
9. Soft red scarf that can wrap around nose if needed
10. GOOD puffy down coat with furry thingy. Splurge on a good one: you will wear this every day from Nov-April in NYC
And with this fine outfit I looked and felt more like this:
And less like this:
